Unlocking the vast potential of the township economy, by UPLIFTING & EMPOWERING the people of Diepsloot.

Supporting education and innovation.

What started as a community outreach by St Mungo’s Church, Bryanston, in 2004, has over the years grown into what is today The Diepsloot Foundation, an NPC, with deep roots in the community of Diepsloot.

Today, The Diepsloot Foundation is a multi-disciplinary Community Development and Services Center, covering Education, Computer Literacy, Agriculture, Healthcare and Skills Training.

Our Programs

  • AET

Adult Education & Training - Our AET program has been our stock offering since inception, and continues to empower people with basic literacy, numeracy, social sciences, economic and entrepreneurial sciences knowledge.

  • DIGITAL LITERACY

From basic end-user computer training, to training in advanced ICT and Emerging Technologies, such as Blockchain Technology and Coding, we provide programs that will enable our people to meaningfully participate in the Digital Economy.

  • CARPENTRY

Focusing entirely on wood processing, our carpentry school covers aspects such as furniture making, upholstery, wood finishings (paint and varnishing), and upcycling of wood products such as school desks. Our Learnership is accredited with the FP&M SETA (Fibre Processing & Manufacturing SETA).

  • SEWING

Our Sewing School has produced some outstanding seamsters and seamstresses over the years. We have produced items that were sold at OR Tambo International Airport, for example. Since the outbreak of covid, we have manufactured over half a million facemasks for various corporate clients.

  • AGRICULTURE

From our vegetable tunnels and garden, we supply fresh vegetables to 13 pre-schools in the community of Diepsloot. These include spinach, kale, onions, tomatoes, cabbage, peppers and brinjals. We believe good nutrition and education go hand in hand. We are teaching our children to appreciate both. This project is run in partnership with Rise Against Hunger.

  • HEALTHCARE

In partnership with CIPLA Foundation, 10 000 people are receiving their monthly chronic medication from a mobile clinic running on our campus.

We are looking to expand our healthcare offering to the community, especially in the area of training and ‘healthcare entrepreneurship’

  • KHULANI ECD

At Khulani ECD we focus on the child, and all aspects of their growth: Spiritual, Emotional, Intellectual, and Physical. Our teaching and learning is Christian based, in a stimulating environment, undergirded by healthy nutrition and appropriate stimulation.

Khulani ECD was founded in 2017 and offers Grade 00 (4-5 years old), and Grade 000 (3-4 years old)

  • SOCIAL RELIEF

Through our Social Relief program, 40 local households are receiving food parcels on a weekly basis. Winter blankets, fleece jackets, are also provided annually, in accordance with the season of the year. These are produced on-site, by our Sewing Department. Other items, routinely get donated and distributed to members of the community of Diepsloot.

  • ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Our Entrepreneurship intervention is not a one-size-fits-all approach.

We utilize initiatives such as our Opportunity Platform, The Human Entrepreneur, Immersions, and The Start-up Tribe, as tools to give as many people as possible access to entrepreneurial training, opportunities, and support.

  • B-BBEE & CSI

We are a credible Service Provider and Funding vehicle for all your B-BBEE related imperatives. Our core focus in this regard is Skills Development, Socio-Economic Development (SED), and Enterprise Development
